Casino wagering continues to gain traction around the World. With every new year there are distinctive casinos starting in old markets and brand-new domains around the World.

Typically when most folks contemplate choosing to work in the gaming industry they often think of the dealers and casino employees. It’s only natural to think this way given that those persons are the ones out front and in the public purvey. That aside, the wagering industry is more than what you witness on the wagering floor. Gaming managers are have responsibility for the complete operation of a casino’s table games. They plan, assemble, direct, control, and coordinate gaming operations within the casino; develop gaming protocol; and pick, train, and organize activities of gaming workers. Because their daily tasks are so varied, gaming managers must be well-informed about the games, deal effectively with employees and guests, and be able to determine financial consequences that affect casino escalation or decline. Salaries vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data show that full-time gaming managers were paid a median annual amount of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 per cent earned less than $26,630, and the highest ten percent earned more than $96,610.

Gaming supervisors monitor gaming operations and workers in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they see that all stations and games are manned for each shift. It also is typical for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating principles for guests. Supervisors will also plan and arrange activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.

Gaming supervisors must have leadership qualities and good communication skills. They need these abilities both to supervise workers efficiently and to greet patrons in order to encourage return visits. Many casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. No matter their their educational background, however, most supervisors gain expertise in other wagering jobs before moving into supervisory positions because an understanding of games and casino operations is important for these staff.
